In Alaska we have 3 species of ptarmigan (white-tailed, rock, and willow) and 4 species of grouse (sooty, sharp-tailed, spruce, and ruffed). They can be found from the rainforest to the tundra. We use snowmobiles (known as snowmachines in Alaska), boats, skis, ATVs, our own feet, and of course the dogs we love to chase these birds.
